In the heart of Weatherford, Texas stands a remarkable institution that brings the rich and layered history of Parker County to life for visitors of all ages. The Doss Heritage and Culture Center is more than just a museum — it is a 23,000-square-foot celebration of the people, stories, and traditions that shaped this remarkable corner of Texas.
Best of all? Admission is completely free for self-guided tours, making it one of the most accessible and rewarding cultural experiences in all of North Texas.
A Dream Realized for Parker County
The Doss Heritage and Culture Center opened in 2006, the result of years of hard work and dedication by a group of community volunteers known as Civic Development, Inc. Before its creation, the history and culture of Parker County was housed in a single room inside the Weatherford Public Library. Today, the 23,000-square-foot award-winning facility is available for the world to experience and enjoy.
The museum's mission is clear and passionate: to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Parker County through cultural and educational events that raise awareness and pride in the area's western heritage.
